Linda was the bus monitor at North Columbia Elementary for a number of years. She greeted many of us as kids with a smile. She was the first person you would see getting off the bus rain, sleet or snow. It is my hope you will read what’s happening with her and if your heart desires help the family as you wish
UPDATE: Hey everyone! Just wanted to touch base and give y'all an update on how mama is doing. She's amazing and is handling the radiation like a rock star! She is about halfway through the treatments, 22/37 to be exact! Her vision is getting better everyday; however her taste and smell still has a way to go as expected. If everything stays on track, she will be done with treatments on May 7th!!!!! Praise the Lord! We want to think everyone for your thoughts, prayers and wishes. They definitely do not go unnoticed!
Linda was diagnosed with Clival Chordoma, locally invasive tumors that arise in the base of the skull, towards the latter part of 2019. Since the diagnosis she has been back and forth to Emory Hospital in Atlanta for multiple appointments and scans. On January 1st, 3 surgeons performed an endonasal endoscopic approach on her "mass" and were able to remove 90%! This is a HUGE accomplishment! The surgeons were very pleased with the outcome of the procedure. She is currently in ICU and will remain there until they are able to get her oxygen levels to an acceptable level. She is going to have to go through 6 weeks of radiation treatment for the remaining 10%. Unfortunately, she is going to have to go to Emory for her treatments.
Christan and Ginger are going to be commuting back and forth between home and Atlanta in order to make sure Linda is able to receive her radiation treatments. As we all know, having a loved one in the hospital is a very scary situation. We thought donations for gas, hotels, food and some medical expenses they may run into would possibly take some of the stress off the family. She has a long road ahead of her, but she is incredibly strong woman and has an amazing support system to help her along the way!
Her family would appreciate any donation you are able to provide and remember, no donation is too small! Prayers are always welcome and encouraged! If you would like to donate, you can simply send a donation through PayPal to christan_newsome@yahoo.com
